Synthesis: What are cultural soil services?

Throughout this topic, we have explored how soils influence human societies in many different ways: as archives of past civilizations, sources of materials for art and cultural expression, places of recreation and wellbeing, and foundations for spiritual and cultural values.

This short video ‘December: Soils and Culture’ produced by the Soil Science Society of America brings together these different perspectives and highlights how soils contribute not only to food production and ecosystem functioning, but also to identity, culture, creativity, and our relationship with the world around us. It takes about 3 minutes.
